According to a recent study, college graduates between the ages of 25 and 32 with full-time jobs earn about $17,500 more a year than their peers whose education ended with high school. A good reason to make a college education your goal. Hit the books now and it will pay off down the road!

Having a degree in today's competitve job market does help you land a higher paying job in most cases but it is not the only thing that companies are looking for.

You need to focus on your job qualifications when searching for a certain type of job because in most cases if you have a degree or not you are going to need some experience to help you land that great job. It is important that when you are looking for a job that you network so that you can increase the area you are searching in.

It is a help to have a degree and in some cases a masters degree can be a big plus. But there are lots of college graduates that have zero experience and are finding themselves not able to find work as well.

It is good to remember that with some professions, such as a doctor or lawyer, you are going to need a degree so that you can work in this particular field. If there is a job that you are interested in doing you can always get your degree because it is never too late. You may want to think about going to night school so that you can fulfill your dream of making a lot of money with a great professional job.

Remember that it is not hard to find a job even if you do not have a degree. In some cases you are going to have a disadvantage without one because there may be someone that with a degree applying for the same job. Experience helps a lot to land a great job.

If you choose to go back to school for a degree so you can reap some of the benefits listed above make sure you study in an area that will be in demand by employers once you have graduated. It is OK to pursue your passion as long as you will be able to find a job once you have finished. Deciding to pursue a college degree is a huge commitment, both in time and money, and you want to make sure you can reap the rewards of your investment down the road.

No Degree?

No degree? Don't despair, you can still find a great paying job without a degree. Highly skilled tradespeople such as plumbers, carpenters, millwrights and pipefitters are much in demand and are able to earn high salaries for their specialized skills.

Real Estate agents have the potential of earning very high salaries if they are successful at what they do. It doesn't hurt if the housing market is hot too! Some real estate agents would have found it hard to make a living when the housing market crashed in 2009.

If you are smart and talented you may be able to start your own business and become very successful at what you do without going to university to get a degree. The internet has given young people the opportunity to be successful. If you can predict the next hot trend and bring it to the global marketplace you could be on your way to a very successful career!
